«We Could Be Legends»

With River's question, Emily stiffened. "I used to live here. With my daughter being taken by those Pure freaks, I came and remembered all that they had already taken. But it's not all bad. This life I have now includes sunlight, and beauty. And so, I think it's still worth fighting for." She finished sadly. "I have just as much a right to be here as you. I'm suprized they haven't closed this off ages ago.

River rolled her eyes at Emily. "Yeah, I kinda remember all that, Emily." She growled, taking a pace back and glancing at Alice, Toby, and Taylor, jerking her head sideways to indicate that they could come over. "I doubt they even know about this place, the world would be flipping out over the fact that there was a entirely inhuman city underground, and that there's a giant battle field strewn with dead people beside it." She said, her eyes landing back on Emily.

"We're doing what we need to do, Emily." Wolfram spat, tightening his grip on the knife's handle. "And it's none of your business." His eyes glinted in the darkness. He jerked, a soft noise alerting him, but it was only Taylor, the teenage witch, if that's what you would even call her, came creeping over slowly.

Toby walked up to River, still holding the knife tightly in his hand. He looked at Emily. If it was someone else, he might've put the knife away, but he didn't like her, so he held onto the knife, ready to attack if she made the wrong move.

Alice held back, watching the two near her slowly walk over to River. Neither of the boys had put away their knives, both seemed ready to pounce, tearing Sherri's mom to pieces if she moved wrong. Actually Taylor and Aunt River seemed to give off the same tense feeling.

Alice squeezed her eyes shut. Her mom's voice along with all the guilt she felt over Dyn getting hurt here, coming back to her. 'I've told you so many times to be careful, bad things happen so quickly! You should have known better than to go there.'

"I'm," Her voice was hoarse, and too quiet to be heard. "I'm going back to the car." She couldn't look up from the ground ashamed, she'd come all this way determined to get the job done, to keep moving forward. She felt responsible, she should stay and help, but they didn't need her, River could find the crystals without her. What good could she possibly do here anyway? Once they had the crystals they'd be able to heal anything. A healer would be useless. She should have stayed with Camilla, that's where she was needed. Her stomach turned imagining her sister waking up to find her missing.

Alice pressed her lips together fighting the sadness as best she could, tears found their way down her cheeks anyway. "I- I shouldn't have come." She looked up at her Aunt, searching for something of her father's eyes in hers. But they were different, they weren't his. They belonged to someone who was so starkly different, they might as well have not been siblings at all. "I can't stay here." She said her voice breaking into a sob as she took off in a full sprint back toward the ramp. The same claustrophobic panic as she had felt that night in the ER driving her forward.

Emily took this very bad cue to speak. "It's just, seeing my daughter taken right out of my arms by those jerks, them stealing my home... it makes me want to do anything to stop them." She fingered a blue crystal. "It's very impossible that this place has never been noticed. Kids go down here plenty of times."

River sharply turned away from the others, her gaze getting pierced with Alice's, causing her to swallow hard. Those eyes, they looked so much like Thomas's, that light blue that looked like simply meeting their eyes could kill you.
Alice looked like she was searching for something... What?
She assumed reassurance, and she gave an strong, fighter's look, only to be puzzled as Alice began backing up, crying.
No, no, no, what did I do now? River blinked, her hand curling and un-curling. As Alice whirled around, sobbing as she made a break for the ramp, she took a step in the teenager's direction, before hesitating. "I'm-- I'm sorry?" She called dully, before mentally scolding herself. I'm sorry? What is this, pity day? That's the best you can do? 'I'm sorry' is worthless words not followed with actions. Idiotic fool. She rolled over the idea of going and comforting her in her mind, but shoving it away. What was that I said to Gage that one time? 'It's my problem, and I don't want anyone else to have it, because it's mine.' Let the kid deal with it, and just don't go making her feel smothered. "Shouldn't have let her come." She mumbled to herself.
She shuffled backwards awkwardly, flinching as she realized the others would be looking to her for what to do, while in all honesty, she didn't know what. She just wanted everything to stop depending on her. She just wanted to go home, be with her family, and let everything be normal again.
She glanced around, eyes falling on Wolfram, and pausing on him, as though he could tell her what to do. As nothing happened she glanced away, staring into nothingness, feeling utterly stupid. Pathetic. Don't be pathetic, the kid can't tell you what to do.
She turned back to them, now looking like her normal self, and giving Emily a disgusted glare. "We don't have time to waste, let's go get those crystals, now." She snapped to Wolfram, Taylor, and Toby.

"I'm afraid that the cat-lady is right." A voice came out of nowhere, and a small, black-and-white rooster trotted out of the shadows. "Don't you think the Pure would've already thought of that?"

Toby put his knife away, and took a step towards Alice as she ran away. Give her space, idiot. She just lost her parents, and is in a place that looks like it triggers bad memories. The last thing she probably wants is someone bugging her, let alone an obnoxious person she doesn't know, like you. He turned back to River as she spoke. He fingered the hilt of his blade in his pocket, and turned to walk towards where the crystals were.

Wolfram whirled around, to see Alice sprinting up the pathway. "Alice!" He glanced at River. "She can't stay up there alone. It's dangerous! Who knows if Mapleshade or anyone from the Pure is lurking out there!" He eyes flashed with fear, torn between going after her and staying. "Taylor." He turned to the Druid girl, who looked up quickly. "Go up there. Do not go near her, but make sure nothing is up there. But do not go near her, let her breathe." He hissed.
Taylor nodded, sprinting to the path at break-neck speed and up to above ground.
He glanced at River apologetically. "I'm sorry." His voice came out as a hoarse whisper. "I couldn't leave her alone up there. Not when I know they are out there. I've suffered there blows enough, and if they hurt her I would never forgive myself."

A tall man walked through the door carrying a starbucks coffee, he was dressed in a blue button down dress shirt and khaki pants. His hair, a dark brown streaked with grey at the temples was plastered against his skull with too much product. "GOOD MORNING CLASS!" He bellowed over the chatter. The students quieted significantly though there was still audible conversation. "My name is Mr. Hanson! I'm your substitute...." He glanced down at a clipboard on the desk. "Math teacher for today." A grimace crossed his face and he turned to the board scribbling his name across the top as well as the date. "Open your text books uhh, or, digital, text books... to the last page you were working on, and do the next 5 pages before the end of class." He said then promptly sat down at the desk putting his feet up on the tabletop and sipped his cup of coffee, pulling a phone from his pocket and tapping on the screen.
Zion glared at the man and pulled out his textbook, upon finishing page one he took out his phone and began talking to his friends on Discord

I took out my book and rolled my eyes at the sub teacher, I didnt even open the book and I hopped on my phone scrolling through Pinterest

(Toby Taylor and River can tag along.)
(misty wan come along *flaps arms* )

River watched the others with dull interest, her head cocked slightly. "I'm coming too, and if you don't want me to, guess what, I'm still coming." She muttered, pushing off the wall and walking towards the door.
Misty emerged from the shadows because she can and went with them

"That's what we all say." Wolfram sighed. He met her eyes, his eyes for once looking completely human. "We shall." Are you proud of me, mom?
The darkness of the cave was eerie, forbidding. He walked towards it slowly, the clearing suddenly entirely silent. Suddenly, a loud snap echoed in the clearing. He whirled around, knife already in hand. Taylor looked up at him sheepishly. "Sorry, I stepped on a twig."
Wolfram hissed. "Someone punch her for me, please." He muttered, drawing closer to the cave.
