«We Could Be Legends»

Toby shakily handed Peter Alpha's leash. "Thanks." He mumbled. Alpha didn't even walk away yet, and Toby already wanted him back. He knew it was for the best though, if Alpha died he wouldn't come back. He could be without him for as long as it took for the war to end if it meant Alpha would be safe.
Indigo hesitated at Alpha's vest, but she was sure his life was more valuable to Toby than him not getting touched. And if putting Alpha in the car was what would give Toby better focus, Alpha would go to the car. She watched as Peter grabbed the leash, then focused on forcing the Pure not to fire on Toby's fragile human form.
Peter crouched down and, clutching the leash, vanished into the crowd.

Toby stared at her. He didn't fully believe her, but the look on her face was enough to keep him from asking anymore questions. Not that it mattered, really. Who cared if she could shapeshift? The only problem he had with it was that she would've lied to him by saying she was an enchantress, but that still might've been just leaving out part of the truth. And it wasn't his business, anyway. We need to get away from them, before they kill us. I can't use my powers again without passing out, or worse, dying. He kept the gun trained on Curly's head, and carefully stood up. He looked at Indigo, hoping she had an idea.
Indigo focused on looking smaller and darker. Her long black curly hair seemed to receed. She wasn't an actual shapeshifter of course, but she could manipulate the visual, making an interesting impression.
Fine, I'll give them what they want.
This surprised them a bit. "Come on!" She hissed, tugging Toby toward the gap in the circle of people.

Toby stumbled after her. He had dropped his gun, but still held on tightly to the bulletproof vest.
"That was cool. That was really cool. You did that, right? I'm not just crazy?" He asked excitedly

"Yeah," Indigo didn't say more, she stopped to fire madly into the group of Pure, glad her gun was automatic. Indigo's poorly aimed bullets only managed to hit one person, but the others were too shocked to threaten them.

"C-cool," Toby stuttered. He took a few steps away, recoiling into his hoodie when her gun went off so close to his ear. He looked around, and picked up a small silver handgun. He didn't shoot anyone with it, but held it just in case. I should put this vest on... no, I'm safer just holding it.

Indigo pulled him aside where the thin, scraggly trees actually managed to make some kind of canopy above them. "I don't know if its a good time to tell you..." she said, glancing at the fighting inhumans. "But I want you to trust me. She looked like she had a pale glow again, but she'd retained her smaller looking size.
Her eyes were a strange pale blue color that faded back to purple. "I'm not actually a shapeshifter, ok?"

"It's not- it's not your powers that I- that I care about. Who cares if you can shapeshift? B-besides them, of course." Toby said, distracted by her pale blue eyes. He did trust her, to an extent. After all, she had saved his life many times.

Indigo looked at her muddied shoes. "No-Name was my mother," she said. "I know it's a little freaky, being related to someone like that. But I hated her. When I grew up, I wanted to be the opposite of her." Indigo looked at Toby's purple, fearful eyes, remembering what she'd told him about her mother before. "I didn't inherit her shapeshifting abilities. But I have her enchantment skills."

"Is... that why you joined the Multitude?" Toby asked. He knew what it was like growing up with someone most people view as terrible. "Listen, Indigo, I know this is probably pretty personal. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I.. trust you." He said. He wanted to know more about her, but only if she felt comfortable telling him.
