«We Could Be Legends»

"Everyone else is good," Bleddyn supplied slowly as her traveling eyes accumulated more and more for her whirling mind to take in, then gestured downward. "And, hey, we got this...fairy-whatchamacallit girl." The next remark came as offhandedly as her tenuous composure required. "My dad's gone, though."
"B-but..." Taylor's sentence cut short, unable to figure out what to say. But they were swallowed by the earth.
She stared at the unconscious Sherri and the pixie, deciding not to ask where it came from, for she didn't need to be more confused then she already was.
Her breath hitched in a painful gasp when Bleddyn stated so nonchalantly that Connor was dead. It was obvious to her that he was, but how nonchalant the girls voice was, was what shocked Taylor the most. "I'm so sorry you lost your father, Bleddyn."

"Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't be here," she muttered furiously, her eyes no longer on the war's recession, but, rather, on her feet. To no extent had she heard any word after 'I'm sorry---.' "I promise, it wasn't my choice. But here I am. Blame him."

The only person Taylor could figure out who she was referring to was Wolfram, and quickly she put together her words and expression, coming to a horrifying conclusion that set a cold stone of fear in her. "Don't say that," she breathed, her voice trembling with the effort to keep the fire wall burning. In some twisted way, I'm so glad he fell in with her.
"That's not true. You didn't...it's not..."
But words failed her miserably.

Toby turned to Bleddyn. "Don't say that. We care about you, and we're glad you aren't dead. We've already lost too many people, and I'm glad you aren't added to that list." He said, mustering enough energy to say that without stuttering or passing out.

Indigo choked on a cloud of dust. She wasn't really confident that the walls of dirt around her would just stand and watch her sit in the hole. No. Now that she was all alone, they looked as malevolent as a hole could be. "Hey, are you going to leave me here alone?" she called up, turning her beam of light towards the surface.
She secretly hoped that Toby would be the first to reply.

Toby peaked down the hole. "You're not alone, you have the worms," he said with a small smile. "And isn't Jessi down there with you? As much as I would love to save you myself, she's better at that than I am."

Wolfram scrambled to his paws, gasping, taking a full breath for what felt like the first time in hours. He gave a soft yelp of horror as a dragon (Wyvern, he reminded himself) loomed over him. He shakily padded to River's side, and shifted. He knew that was the last time he could shift, that he wouldn't be able to take anymore, as he shakily knelt down beside her. "River," he rasped, realizing his throat felt like he had swallowed sand. "Jessi will bring us up, alright? We'll sort this out." He extended his unwounded arm, offering his hand to her. "Come on, I'll help you."
"Yeah, yeah okay." River groaned, usually she would have brushed him off and helped herself up, but instead she grabbed his head, letting him help pull her to her feet, one of her hands still clasped over her wounded side. "Thanks, Wolfram." She mumbled, giving a racking cough and beginning to try to shuffle onto to Jessi, obviously in bad pain.
"Gah, feels like one of my rib bones is poking my guts." She muttered under her breath, her ears laid slick against her head in pain.

Peter appeared by the rest of the inhumans, noticeably shaking. He stumbled and put his hand out, slumping against a Pure van. He had been teleporting through the battlefield, trying to land on the Pure members' heads. He sunk down to the ground, putting his hand to his leg, just for it to come away red. Look at that. I've been shot. He thought, realizing slowly that his whole body seemed numb. He looked around at the others, all of which seemed even worse off than him. His thoughts felt like they were floating away from him, and he struggled to focus.

"I feel your pain." Wolfram hissed, unsteadily trying to pull himself up Jessi's wing. The dragon's (wyvern's) scales were fairly smooth, giving him little to hold onto. Finally, with a low whimper of pain, he hauled himself onto the top of the dragon (wyvern). He found that there was little to hold onto, sending waves of panic through him. Without warning, ragged coughs racked his body, leaving him gasping for air. A thin whimper escaped his throat, and he clamped his jaws shut. No matter how much pain he was in, he would not let it faze him. "You alright, River?"

"She's just come back," Indigo informed him. A strange blood-red worm slithered out of the wall, and Indigo cringed. "You're right, these worms should be world renowned for their hospitality."
