«We Could Be Legends»

"She... Yeah, she is... And I don't think Lach was hurt, but he may have been though... Good. They need to hurry up and get over here." Camilla said, pushing hair back out of her eyes. Maybe Aunt River can talk to Alice. She's acting way too strange for me.

River had opened her mouth to nag them to start towards the van, when Toby's head began twitching around, his eyes changing colors as he hit himself. She glanced at Lachlan, the two of them sharing a worried look. When she looked back to Toby, the panicked look he gave her made her heart twinge.
River edged towards him a step, eyeing him with concern. "Toby, you okay?"

Toby shivered, stumbling away from her. “S-stay away from me, p-please,” he stammered. “They’re not happy. They want back out.” As River asked if he was okay, Toby shook his head slightly. “N-yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I just... I just need to sleep, then everything will be okay. Then they’ll leave me alone.” I’ll wake up and none of this will have happened. It’ll still be Saturday morning.
Toby’s eyes darted between River and Lachlan. He never realized how tall and intimidating they looked until now, and remembering one of them was a trained killer didn’t help that.

They...? Jenna told me something about Toby having episodes, didn't she? River frowned, her dark blue eyes staring into his darting ones. Her arm reached out, pushing Lachlan back away from them to try and give the nervous teenager some more space, but never taking her eyes off Toby. She quickly noticed how intimated he looked by them. I guess we aren't the most... Welcoming, looking people.
"Toby, we won't hurt you. I swear that. And I won't come near you if you don't want me to. You can go and sleep in the back of the van, with Alpha, okay? They... Won't get out. We'll go and have Jessi come back as soon as we get to the van and make sure everyone's okay. Does that sound good?" She murmured, trying her best to sooth him, hoping desperately that her scratchy voice and tired eyes somehow showed her good intentions.

Toby watched River push Lachlan behind her, mistaking it as River being scared for Lachlan’s safety. “I-I’m sorry,” Toby said, his lower lip quivering as he shrank to the ground. “I know-I know you won’t hurt me. I just... I just c-can’t promise the same.” He wrapped his arms tightly around himself, his breathing short and quick.
As River continued to speak, Toby nodded slightly. “O-okay,” he said, watching River carefully as he slowly stood up. He looked around. He couldn’t remember which direction the cars were in, and for all Toby knew they were lost, and the cars were going to get tired of waiting and leave without them.

River watched him shrink down, and suddenly realized just how small he was compared to herself. She picked up every skittish movement he made, the way he curled his arms around his torso, his lip quivering, his quick and huffy breaths. I've never seen him this scared. I need to get him back to the van. And we need to find Jessi, I want to know more about what happens with him. Except I don't know wyvern. Hmmph, maybe someone else does.
"Don't be sorry, you didn't do anything. And you won't hurt us. Come on, Toby, Lachlan, follow me." She said softly, her arm wrapped around her wounded body. She began to walk in the direction Lachlan had earlier indicated as the correct way. She kept running different things over in her mind to say to help Toby, and decided the Alpha card was her best option. "And Toby? Everything's gonna be fine. Just focus on getting to the van and Alpha."

Toby slowly followed a few feet behind River, tripping over his own feet. “But-but what if I do accidentally hurt you? Back in school I-I lost control and I hurt people.” He asked quietly.
Toby noticed her grip her wounded side and instantly felt guilty. This is my fault. This is all my fault. If I would’ve done something sooner she wouldn’t be hurt. He thought.
At the mention of Alpha, Toby relaxed ever-so-slightly, but that quickly changed once he got in view of the van. No, I can’t go over there. Everyone will know something’s wrong and they’re going to laugh at me. They’ll know how pathetic I am. He stood frozen, feeling nauseous. If he had anything in his stomach he probably would’ve thrown up. “Maybe we should- maybe I should just... stay here.”

River stopped also, turning to face him. "Lachlan, go on. We'll be there in a moment."

He paused, glancing between them, then gave a nod, scurrying away and over to Finlay, and the two of them began speaking, Finlay blurting out some of his concerns to his brother.

River tilted her head at Toby, a understanding look on her face. "Toby, listen to me. You won't hurt me. Or anyone else, for that matter. Just because you have before, doesn't mean you'll let that happen again. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for, you've done more than enough to prove that to me. And I know Jessi shares that thought." She paused, wincing as her speaking hurt her wounded side, but nevertheless, she continued. "I know what you're feeling, I've seen that look. If you're worried about the others, don't be. We've been through things that no one should go through together, if anyone in this world is good, it's them. And the feeling of being terrified out of your mind that you're gonna hurt someone when you don't mean to... It's the worst feeling in the world-- I've been there. I don't really know what to say, other than for once, you have to trust yourself-- And them. You won't hurt us, and we won't hurt you. I promise. You're a good person, I truly believe that, Toby."

Toby watched Lachlan go, and then looked back at River, his eyes brimming with tears. He ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to self soothe, his foot tapping nervously on the ground. He wanted to tell her all of the ways she was wrong, but when he opened his mouth to do so, nothing came out. He dropped his gaze to the ground, trying to keep himself from crying. The last thing he wanted was to have River change her mind after seeing him cry. “Thank you,” Toby whispered, shooting her a small teary-eyed smile. He didn’t know the words to tell her just how much that meant to him. Toby wiped his face with his sleeve, looking towards the van.

"They'll be back soon," Wolfam assured her, giving her a smile smile of reassurance.

Wolfram narrowed his eyes, watching her. She looked at him like she didn't even know him, like she had no idea who he was. What's wrong with her?
"Alice, wait," he held up a hand, tilting his head. "What's wrong? Why do you keep looking at me so weirdly? It's just me, it's just Wolfram."

Alice was going to respond with a simple answer, 'You didn't look like you under all the grime' or 'You look like someone else.' something simple to continue the dream. She knew if she got too serious she'd wake herself up, she'd done it too may times before. Not that this seemed to be a particularly good dream, but she liked not having to hide her powers. She was interrupted though by her sister.

Camilla returned his smile, thankful for his reassurance.
When Wolfram confronted her sister, she too decided to announce her worries. "He's right, Alice. You haven't been acting right. You go into a mini coma for the entire day, sleep through a battle, fire, and an earthquake, wake up and collapse on the ground and scream at me and Finley-- Which, under the circumstance, was kinda understandable-- But now you're all fine and dandy. Acting like everything is fine, and you don't look like you recognize Wolf. I mean, he's new but he's been with us for days. You're really sure you're okay?" She rambled out, her voice sick with worry. Gosh, I sound like Mom.

"Of course I'm ok." Alice forced a small smile, as genuinely as she could, was it normal to feel tired while you were asleep? She leaned forward and put her hands gently on both of Woframs sides finally starting to heal him. "Stop nagging at me mom jeez, you'd think something horrible had happened. I was just sleeping." She said jokingly.

Wolfram flinched as her hands came to his sides, wincing as they rested on his broken ribs. They felt like they snapped back into place, a horrific pain slamming through him for less then a second, before vanishing instantly, replaced by a rush of sudden emotion. "Something horrible has happened!" He snarled, shoving her hands away. "How the hell can you joke right now? People are dying, people are dead. You were just sleeping? Sure, through a war, through an earthquake!"
He was breathing heavily, though unable to relish in the feeling of breathing without pain. But he felt everything ten times stronger then he ever had before, the sting and pain of his wounds, the thundering of his heart, the sudden anger towards Alice boiling in his blood, he felt all of it so much stronger then before.
"I don't know what's going on with you, but you need to wake up and take a look around you. This isn't a joke."

She heard but didn't really register what he yelled at her, she was surprised she'd been shoved away. Wasn't the whole point of this dream that she was supposed to heal people?
"Calm down, I can see that people are hurt. You're not helping. So sit back, shut up, and let me do my job." She growled pushing his shoulder back toward the flattened seat.
