➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

So my late hatcher isn’t looking good. He was perky and fluffy this morning when I checked the incubator but still had one curled foot. I put a boot on him and put him in the brooder. About an hour later he was laying in a corner cold and wet. Popped him back in the incubator and left for work. We’ll see if the heat revives him but I’m not optimistic. :(

Aww I’m sorry to hear that. :( :hugs

Hope he improves! :fl

Didn’t know you were picky on the type of boot camp. :lau

Did you see the pictures? I think lumberjack bootcamp and felling trees by hand would be a lot more work :lau

Although, come to think of it, I’d rather do Kiki boot camp! :lau
Does that boot camp take away your phone?

Anyone have opinions on fall hatches? I live in CT so I’m kind of worried if I were to start a hatch in a few weeks the little guys would have a hard time moving from the brooder to a colder outdoor coop, but I’d love to sneak another hatch in before the year ends.
Some of us (including myself) have just started incubating a new batch. I started mine on Thursday. These will hatch early September and not be grown out until early-mid November. But what the heck! :)
I have no problem sending most of them to freezer camp should I need to. I'm not sure if that's an option you are willing to consider. I also hope to move the quail to my heated attached garage for the winter if I can get some cages with poop trays put together in there. From what I have read and heard, coturnix quail are not likely to survive outside or in our unheated coop through the winter.

I say do it.

So tempting... incubation addiction is real! This batch would definitely be for “freezer camp” hahaha. @BReeder! Do you think they’d do alright in the cold if there coop was draft resistant and the water kept from freezing, or do they need more serious heating?
