➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I've been thinking about quail dog food.

Why are you hiding? Lol I’m sure it’s healthy for them and tasty and they’re gonna be killed either way whether you eat them or the dogs do, right? And it probably saves money on food hah and the organs and all the icky stuff also won’t go to waste. :D

Ewwww...I would never feed my dogs the stuff even I won't eat.

Totally understandable! I’m sure they’ll love even just the meat haha

Although I’m sure they ate everything with those quail they caught themselves :lau
They swallowed them whole. I thought for sure they were going to get sick but they didn't so it has convinced me that I could feed them whole quail but I just won't.

Sorry about the losses :fl for over 30 hatchlings!
The first 5 I was OK with. I always expect some losses. Afterall, I have a cheap foam incubator and take the approach of not adjusting hatches (unless it's something minor like removing some shell or dried membrane from an otherwise perfectly good hatchling). This 6th loss was absolutely my fault though, which is why it was harder to accept.

OMG really!? I didn’t think their heads were even that big haha I know Gator probably could have but he was also way bigger and could hold basketballs in his mouth. :lau

That’s good they didn’t get sick though!!

And that’s totally understandable!! It’s not for everyone and I’m not sure if I’d even be able to either so I’m sorry if it seemed like I was trying to pressure you or made you feel bad or anything aha

But if you’re ever ready, it’s totally safe for dogs (and cats!) and there are actually some people that feed their animals completely raw and feed meat, organs, bones and everything. And for the people that do do completely raw and don’t feed kibble or supplements or anything, the organs and bones are actually necessary because they contain a lot of valuable nutrients and calcium. Not saying you’re going to do that, I don’t even feed any of mine raw, too much work for me and too gross, but was just pointing that out cause there are a lot of nutrients in it. And you would know exactly what they were fed as opposed to buying it from elsewhere like some people. It doesn’t have to be feathers or feet or anything super disgusting either haha

Believe it or not some humans even eat the organs and blood! :sick

But even just the meat is great for them too!! And makes a great treat or even meal or something and probably less money spent on food haha

Also you can freeze the meat or organs or really any part and use them for treats.

But I think raising some quail for them is a great idea. Even if you only give them breast meat or cook it beforehand or whatever.

I think it’s all a great idea. :) :hugs
