➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Did a little more googling and I think that may be right. My coworker found it in her yard and was joking I may have lost a quail.:p
I think it might be someone’s livestock though as I don’t think there are feral populations around here.
Out west hahaha they can be part of the “wild” population but they as a “breed” are very vocal and call in the flock ie they know when someone is missing! So more likely livestock that escaped for whatever reason. @007Sean or @R2elk may be able to help more as both are closer to “wild range” than I am in Indiana

Today is basically our day of holiday weekend that we do “nothing”but hang out in backyard and grill dinner (and drink of course) but we spent part of our day evaluating the current aviary for winter and “oh shit” situations! Plans are in the works for 1st an indoor “bird room” that we could throw all remaining birds into in the event of hard winter or catastrophe. Next is a covered deck with sails...for The aviary for birds to escape rain/snow etc. the indoor bird room looks to be only 80 sq feet so may have to Bucher som in a catastrophe situation....but at least dh is giving me 80 sq ft!!!!

@mixedUPturk @BReeder! .......hatch update?? i have 1 more in the incubator from this evening. not sure why my homegrowns are so slow and spread out....:pop:pop
I think there's 7 hatched. 1 hatched and passed away. Another is exhausted and may or may not survive. It hasn't recovered much from the exaustion of hatching. The others are doing well though. There's still plenty more to hatch.

Also, I got the top tier of the 3-tier cage done just in time to move the 3 week olds out of the brooder to make room for the new hatchlings. Here's a picture of the cage with the 3 week olds in it. The poop drawer is open in the picture, but remains closed unless we are cleaning. .

As I stated in earlier post...today is our day of “rest” and hanging out etc....hubby took it upon himself to “help” me out and moved 4 hatchlings to the already overcrowded brooder and raised rh to 70+% humidity is no biggie as it will go down fast in current Hatcher but I yelled him for moving new hatches not knowing if they were even dry enough yet!!!! I love him and I know his heart is in the right place but daaamn u gotta inform me!!!!! :gig

Looks real nice, @BReeder! Wanna post a schematic? ;) (JK... I do actually know how much work putting *that* together would entail.) At any rate, I’m definitely impressed. You’ve got some lucky little birdies. :(

No schematics. In am writing a detailed article here on BYC though. It is already published and had plenty of pics. The title is 3-tier Quail Cage.
