I think about 8 or 9? I'll get a better idea when they've finished hatching.
I spent a fair amount of time frantically moving chicks from the incubator to the brooder this morning. I left the ones that were still really wet, and I counted as I moved. There are 27 in the brooder right now.
Crazy how fast they can fill the Incubator, huh?
It's looking great in there! Are you going to put poop collecting trays underneath?
I'm thinking about it, I've started under the left hand side, just don't have all the supplies yet to finish. The chickens have been going in and cleaning up all the wasted food on the ground. I'm adding a door to help keep varmints out even better, plus it'll be warmer for them this winter.

I started the fence yesterday but the hardware cloth wasn’t working out so I’m just gonna get cattle panels. I also think I made their area way too big.... it’s bigger than my current girls have! Haha

So I’ll get cattle panels.

We’ll go either tomorrow or later today. Probably tomorrow as my dad needs to borrow his brother’s truck and I have a lot of stuff to do here. It’s raining today so I’ll get some inside stuff done like laundry and cleaning and such. :sick

I’m probably going to wind up taking all this down but did this yesterday as well as clean the coop and go to the feed store for shavings, chicken feed, and a few other things.

Today’s been good but gonna be another long and crazy one!! It’s sunny and 5View attachment 1966758 0* need to move littles out of house but Helping DH get his 2 does in the cooler first....also need to figure out processing the turkeys!! And look what I found in the button cage!!
I managed to process one of the visitors from last night. The fellow that comes to get eggs showed up as I was finishing plucking. He stuck around long enough to take the processed carcass home with him. It gave me quite a workout before my turkeys cornered it for me.

I keep hoping for eggs, since the boys have been crowing for weeks. Wonder when the 1st ones will arrive?
