It's hard to catch in a picture but it looks like the dummy hit a vein.
There is new blood along the aircell.

Will it still hatch? It doesn't look like a lot of blood, but they're so tiny that they don't have a lot.
It's still moving so it isn't dead yet.
I have no idea if it will hatch or not.

Wait...I think I have seen this once before and the other dummy did end up hatching.

the buttons are almost 4 months old and these are first eggs.....coturnix can lay as early as 6 weeks but i’ve also had some that didn’t lay until 3ish months old.

Do you think shorter days are the issue? My buttons lay at 8 weeks, but lights are on in my house until 10 or 11 at night. They've slowed down some since it gets dark before I get home from work. They don't have light from dark to 6:30 or so when I get home.

i think that has a lot to do with it.....this batch of buttons have been solely indoors and the lighting inside my house is not that great.

Had to go to the larger brooder totes, hopefully in a week they can go outside to their new pens.
Plus found out my other silver is a crower too, had to put him in with his neighboring ladies. That means I only ended up with 7 hens out of that Variety set that I ordered! 11 Roos, that's if none of these hens suddenly start foaming!:barnie
