Bull!!!
It depends on the cockerel. Cockerels that are running around with raging hormones at 4 months old can cause hens to produce fertile eggs while ones that don't get their hormones until much later will not be able to cause fertile eggs until later.6 months then? I suppose 4 is still way too young, right?

He is probably the dominant cockerel and is just trying to move up in the pecking order. Pecking order squabbles are not necessarily a good reason for culling.Though one picks fights with the big girls.

Honestly, truly bad cockerels are few and far between. I have not had many. Their flock situation and how they are handled has far more of an impact.I know, I was mostly kidding. But I do want to hatch eggs from them when they’re old enough.
Thanks! Very helpful. I think it’ll probably be way too soon as they only hatched thanksgiving weekend so mostly kidding but I do want to hatch from them. Planning on keeping 3 boys and the girl for now and deciding later but I’m still watching them all closely to see if I chose wrong or whatever. Cause I have my faves but if they have a bad personality, I want to choose another before I get rid of them. I know it’s not a guarantee but still.
