➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I got another quail egg! Barring her laying another egg tomorrow, that means I'll have two to set for the EHAL at least, lol.

I'm curious if I'll end up just hatching more pharoahs. Who knows what she might be carrying color-wise.

Joke's on me, she laid one today, lol. She's apparently laying in the late evening; the one I just picked up was still warm.

Do you put the cross bars in the turner to make columns or just put them all in the turner frame?
i have done it both ways....if you leave the bars out, you may be able to fit all in the turner frame.....just need to label to ensure they are all turning properly......if you put extras on the outside, just be careful with the lid when you are hand turning and checking.

True. Not so much with the current pandemic I’m thinking. :( Also it could be the extra social distancing time that is making me, I mean my friend, even contemplate the whole thing.

Do you house the four together?
i have 10 housed together currently 3 males: 7 females and then
1 lone chick. they are all awaiting the weather to go to their new outdoor aviary! no major issues except a few bald hens....my boys are very amorous! :lau

we planted our strawberries and onions this afternoon. I also put the duckies out in the new aviary with DS guinea pigs while we cleaned cages. I put the lone button chick in with the budgies so it would have some company, but they were being bullies so I had to move it back to its own cage. we also cleaned the filter on the pond again and moved the 3 goldfish over to the 150 side. the koi all gathered at the inlet like they were looking for them??? i’m not really sure if fish can tell when “friends” move away?? Indiana goes into further “lockdown” this week. I’m still going in everyday and seeing emergencies and “urgent” care while catching up on lab work, cleaning, and administrative stuff. no $$$ really as most insurance is on lockdown right now too and nobody really has extra cash to spare cuz they spent it all hoarding toilet paper :lau

I finally got eggs from all of my permanent hens. 16 eggs tonight.

So let’s just say, hypothetically, someone was interested in hatching button quail but only wanted to keep one pair. What do you do with the extra? With coturnix you can just eat the extras. The fakers are so tiny though!
Asking for a friend.
Craigslist. Or hors d'oeuvres. They have a small bite sized portion of breast meat.
