➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Got the new brooder lid done today. Used a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut the hole and then some bolts we had laying around to attach the hardwood cloth. In full disclosure “we” means my husband.

I saw a video using a hot knife/wood burning tool so I went and bought one. It did not work in case anyone was wondering. The dremel worked much better.

Pick a time when you can be patient and wait. Put some food in your hand. Put your hand so that the back of it is touching the bedding and your arm as close to the bedding as possible. Talk softly and quietly to them. Wait!!!! Eventually they will come to your hand, crawl in it and start eating. Do not move.
No way I'd be able to sit still for hours.

Hey everyone! I have 18 button quail eggs from ebay in between my brinsea mini advance II and my LG 9300 due to hatch on April 30th! :D
Are you aware that buttons are a bit nuts?
I just hatched my first ones and I can not get over how crazy they are.

I doubt that it would take hours but it might take 15 minutes. I had guinea keets do it in under 5 minutes. Of course the more little ones you have, the quicker it will happen.
I didn’t get my buttons to really respond until around 3-4 months old by treating them with mealworms and they were more responsive through the wire of cage vs my hand inside....hens were typically more eager than males
