We’ve been working on the yard again today!! (Trying to beat the rain) can’t believe how quickly the ducks have grown!! Pretty sure quack is a drake....wont know for sure with quick until a couple more weeks....

You've got such a sweet setup. Do you sing karaoke to your birds?

Umm, even purebred chickens can look pretty bad for the breed. They look like a faded, scruffier version of that picture which is just probably a show quality bird

They're from greenfire so who knows. I don't care about show quality and they're gorgeous. They make gorgeous offspring too.

Look at my quail. Their quality probably sucks too. Oh well I'll just have crap chickens and crap quail I'm happy with it.

One of my chicks is zipping and 3 more have pipped, right on schedule! proof you don't need extra hygrometers and thermometers, and that sometimes the ones on the incubator are right!

that's all that matters, you have to like them not anyone else. so good for you. I am sure you will get some good birds soon!

That’s very strange then but maybe a recessive gene or something. I’m sure they’re pure coming from there unless another rooster snuck into the breeding pen seems highly unlikely though haha I’m sure they really are Deathlayers. Do any of the other birds they kept have the pure black eyes? They’re definitely very pretty though I don’t think they’re crap at all and I’m sure your quail will be fine too!!

Yes they love karaoke nights!!! And yeah it’s been a lot of blood sweat and tears on our part but I’m very happy with our little urban homestead on 3/4 acre

Most importantly, your birds look happy. Now you just need to add some fancy swans to your swimming pool.

So... it would seem my patience stores were exhausted after waiting 12hrs to put the eggs in... I candled 4 days in

I told myself I would just candle a few, just to see if anything was developing.I had convinced myself that after the shipping delay, and the overnight temps, that they would be a lost cause, but 16 out of the 26 having veining !! 9 of the 10 remaining I can’t even see into, so they very well may be developing too! I’m so relieved.

Now no more candling until lock down... maybe lol.

Yeah, they’re like $100 each, right!? That’s insane!

They’re gorgeous though!!!
