I am really thinking about putting them in the box, with the brand new babies, to send to their new home in a few days.

I see a pip in the button batch!

My coturnix set went into lockdown this morning. I pulled 6 clears and 1 early quitter from my HG, 2 clears from the other set.
So far on the buttons:
15 set
5 clear
5 too dark to see
5 look good

Coturnix:
Pansy Fee +
41 set
2 clear
39 look good

HG
32 set
6 clear
1 EQ
25 look good

So my second button has been pipped for over 24 hours. This one had the air cell on the wrong end but has pipped on the correct end. It doesn’t seem to be making real progress zipping though. Just making the pip a bit larger. Do I intervene? Do I leave it alone?

my gut rxn is to say leave it alone......but without being there, it’s not a decision that can be made.....i would probably help

we had an eventful day yesterday.....I finally found a female budgie and brought her to her forever home!! we added a ladder to allow the budgies to go higher (pics to come) we also had our first finch escape and retrieval was fairly comical. i took the baby buttons outside but integration did not go well as my smallest male took a pretty hard peck from an adult button. they were returned to clean cage and left in the aviary and all looked to be doing well this morning. I will probably transfer them to the larger cage for a few more weeks of growing before they are reintroduced. HG eggs went into lockdown yesterday so I have to get my brooders ready!! we also added more plants to the aviary, the backyard, and the garden!! (pics to come today)
