➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Here they physically inspect your "facilities" before they will issue a permit. Fortunately the game bird permit does cover all of the game birds, so only the one $50 permit is required.
i also had to have the “physical” inspection by CO of my facility but IN permit is only $15 annually and in regard to birds it only applies to ringnecks and bobwhites. my only grievance/complaint is that it is checks by mail only while all my other dnr licenses can be bought/renewed online

While he is not someone who hangs around this Quail thread, @sourland is another well deserved fan club to belong to. As much as I point people to her excellent Incubation Humidity article I lapsed into forgetting @WVduckchick also. I think it is because she has downgraded from being a duck person into a pigeon person.

Hey now, pigeons are awesome!

Look at my baby:

luckily the ones that “stayed” are non-typical! and of course they have plenty of room here considering.......Gimpy will take treats from DH on occasion while Daisy is still pretty standoffish........but will still come running when it’s “treat time”. we got pretty tickled today as they don’t like mud!! they both have sought “perches” today on top of the houses etc in order to avoid the mud!! we wrapped the subaviary in plastic as well as all the garden and other plants in anticipation of the “freeze warning” overnight......we’ve had to put off the monthly tilling/turning and mulch refresh until next weekend when the threat of flooding and freeze has passed 🤞🤞🤞
No birds like mud, rain, freezing weather, well, with the exception of ducks...but mud, and freezing weather is a death knell for gamebirds if they can not get out of it and find shelter.
