➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

hatch update @FortCluck .......
Loki is making progress.....I expect him to hatch within the hour......*correction* he hatched as I was typing this!!
Hawkeye and Scarlet still a ways off
My scarlets are popping like popcorn. I’m working on the aviary because of you. So far I have 7 that have hatched. That was two hours ago I need to check the bator.

ooh! I’m thinking of getting some! Should I? Are their eggs really blue and beautiful? (I’m looking to add colors to our egg cartons)
I got mine from Cackle Hatchery and yes, the eggs are a nice blue. Not like robins' eggs, but not at all green, either. Unfortunately one died in the brooder and that one turned out to have been the cockerel. :( No blue egg laying babies for me without buying them again. I got a couple blue egg layers from the farm store last year, but I don't remember which ones they are. They're with a different coop, and also lay beautiful blue eggs.

Hawkeye is almost out!!
@007Sean .....zack added a link to a farm in Michigan that offers pheasant and bob eggs....I placed order for 1 doz melanistic eggs. It was $18 for eggs and $10 shipping
That's not too bad! Are they Black, Blue or Green melanistics?

We are going to have tons of eggs this summer... our four four-year-old ISA Brown hens are still laying pretty regularly; the Sapphire Gem is a great layer; our Porcelain Booted Bantam has started popping out four or five tiny eggs a week; we have three Japanese Bantam pullets, three ISA Brown pullets, and one pullet that seems to be some kind of Sultan cross-breed with something else, and they're all nearing three months....
Assuming that all survive, next summer should even more fun... all of this year's pullets will be in the full swing of things by that time....

Yikes!!! Looks like wry neck?

No it’s just bent from how it was positioned in the shell. The poor things neck was totally twisted in the shell, would never have hatched.

Surprisingly it’s neck has straightened since Friday. On the first day it hatched Wonky’s neck was much more twisted.

It can eat and drink but it’s just a waiting game to see how this little chick does!

It’s a happy and lively little chick, definitely got a will to live it never stops 😂

We were getting like 6 or 7 a day, sometimes 9, but now with the 3 losses we will probably get less. All 3 were still laying well. We only got 3 yesterday. Haven’t checked yet today. Hopefully the Brabanters and bantams will lay well.
