➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Woohoo loft/quail aviary is done!(gonna plant it later but for now... Anyways I've got 3 days left so I did a quick candle as I put them on lock down only to realize there's a problem, one egg had its air cell rotate to the side currently facing strait up rather than the fat end where it should be! The baby inside was definitely alive but will it be able to hatch successfully on its own? I'm not one for tampering, but this isn't a possible weakness issue to me, it's a 'the aircell shifted and now might suffocate the baby if it doesn't externally pip in time!' could I wait till everyone is hatching and pierce the location of the aircell like with chicken eggs? Or is a quail egg to fragile?

Good idea!! They will probably have something. I think @Kiki actually has some plastic tote or basket thingies from a dollar store she uses?? Or those plastic or wooden igloo things from the pet stores are good too although more expensive probably haha
Yes...I cut up Dollar store baskets.

It's should be fine.
Don't do anything.

Not if you agree to it in the user agreement most people don’t read those they just accept and move on
 I somehow never thought of this. :lau

I’m guilty of doing that myself.

Though I have read a couple of them just for fun. :lau

I thought so!! That’s such a good idea. You could buy like a million for the price of one of those hides at the pet stores. :lau

Do you just put them upside down and cut an entry hole in it?

Do you get the baskets with the holes in them or solid or it doesn’t matter?

Also... random question I’ve been wondering for forever but have been too embarrassed to ask.... where do they lay the eggs? Like how do you collect them? Do they just lay all over the cage/aviary or in one spot or??? If I remember right, they don’t lay in a nest box like chickens do, right? So where do they lay??? :pop

Sorry for the Twenty Questions impersonation. :lau
