➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I guess they will be more Mom, without or a few pies.... but dad is a wonderful sparkley 😍

Thank you! He was wonderful indeed, but sadly overly territorial. I can't have a people aggressive rooster around little children.

Also, one of these two must be caring the cinnamon gene, because one of her two chicks is a cinnamon. Genetics...:idunno

I can't wait to introduce them to her.

I'll look for it. :)
I'm flattered, but I feel like such a fraud when people ask me for advice...
I've only been keeping quail for a year, but I've learned so much here! I'm glad to pass that learning on.
You are not a fraud. Some people are better observers and learn faster than others. Keep up the good work.

Hello!!
I ordered fertile bob white eggs online. We are on day of incubating. I candled to assess development and discard any that aren’t progressing. I have noticed some have this curvature to the fertile area. Some the curve is smaller than others. Veins and development are visible and are about equal to that of the other eggs that are developing. Is this ok or does this represent an egg that won’t hatch or will give issues later??
Thanks for the help!!
Hey guys, @007Sean , what do you make of this candling photo of a bobwhite egg?

I did some moving around today. I hopefully now have a pansy fee breeding set. There are eight birds in here, and I know that two of them are hens, and my best guess on the younger ones is three hens and three roos. That means I'll end up culling one of the boys at some point, but I'm waiting to be sure of genders before I do that.

That is commonly called a 'saddled egg'. My experince with this kind of development is primarily associated with shipped eggs, although, I have had it happen with some of my own bird eggs.
In my experince with saddled eggs, I have never had one hatch, be it a quail, pheasant, Prairie chicken or turkey.
There have been reports that some people have had them hatch but the chick was malpositioned and had to be assisted in hatching.
