My little runt is growing nicely and is just as big as the other chicks now. But I have another runt from the shipped eggs. It is tiny compared to the others. I had a tiny chick in my last hatch and it turned out to be rooster. Are these tiny chicks always roosters?

Sure thing
But.......it doesn't work like you think it would , the surface of the thermometer gets to hot and reads the wrong temp , so last time I used it for a brooder I just got it to were it felt comfortable.



forgot to say that I had the thermometer in there with the chicks and got it pretty much to a steady temperature of 99 so that's depending on the level of height that the heat lamp is .View attachment 2199285

That is too hot.
Can you raise the lamp higher to get the temp down to 85?

Males usually are smaller than females.

Those are amazing what color are they ? And they are cots right?
