I don't feed 'chick feed' but I think the reason alot of peeps do, is because of availability.
Alot of feed stores and TSC don't carry gamebird feed or don't always keep it in stock. They seem to always have the lower protein 'chick grower' 20% available.

That's the main reason I went to having my feed custom milled.
