I've sold most of my last hatch, so I'm going to set more tomorrow. These are all going to be home grown eggs.

The problem is the eggs were laid in mud, and the mud kind of becomes part of the eggs, (often Iāll sprinkle them with rainwater, or leave them on the table in the rain while I collect the rest) they have about 50/50 hatch rate in my experience, but I often canāt see inside them or if I can, I canāt tell shadows created by the dirt, from a chick. But anyway, my light is 1000 lumens, and Iāve tried even balancing it on the built in light of the the nr360, and shining my independent light in from the top, so itās lit from both sides and itās still just dark. Even though I have tarps over them, they like to dig under their bedding into the mud underneath when it rains, despite the cold, I put my most recent pen on gravel, then covered it with sand, then deep bedding, so for the cold winter they canāt dig into the mud and get wet.too dark to tell. How many lumens is your light? We recommend 1000 lumens to see into the dark corners. Does surprisingly well.![]()

i always get assortment from myshire....that way every hatch is like a box of chocolates!!!I have heard you and Kiki talk about them. I have put several things in my cart on their site on multiple occasions, but chickened (quailed?) out. I cant make up my mind what color I wantMaybe Iāll call them and ask if I can choose the colors for the variety pack.
I didn't see buttons though. Who has a good source for those?
have you hatched under a broody silkie before??Awesome! I have 55 JW x Italian going into lockdown tonight ā 12 of them under a broody silkie hen.

iāve tried it before with quail eggs and i lost the first few because they got suffocated burrowing into the mommas feathers. I started moving them to hatcher close to hatch date.Iāve hatched many things under silkies (other chickens, peafowl, call ducks, geese - even silkies occasionally), but this is my first time using one on quail.
