I just did some Dr Google reading.. it looks as though is can be a vitB2 deficiency, and genetic. I think I will cull them.

I culled them already. One of Dr google results said it was very painful for them. That was enough for me.
That leaves 24 healthy looking fluff balls making a mess!
I wouldn’t breed them but if you are raising them for meat. I reason not to try to fix their feet for quality of life until butcher day. If they can’t be fixed then cull. But that is just me.I say off the dicky toes now. Then you won't have to be babying them.
No. I think she’s too mellow to get excited. Good for her, she can sleep. Bad for me, I have to keep wondering!

After the broody hatched last year, I'm waiting for another. Funny thing still is, it was a Leghorn hen who hatched the clutch. I'm not holding my breath. In an unrelated note, news is getting around that I sell eggs and customers are finding me. If I were in business, I'd have to expand. Since this is a hobby, we shall see. I'm amused by the turn of events.
The black Australorp is a striking addition next to the white Leghorns. DD#2 came home for Christmas and taught the Australorp that people have delicious treats. So we went from not being able to get near her to having her under foot asking for BOSS. Not so politely, I might add.
