➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

My strategy for spring sales was to hatch a group of sex links in January, keep all the females and grow them until they start laying and sell them as laying celadon adults. It worked great (I profited about $150 on about 20 hens), and last hatch I kept 17 sex link hens with the intent to sell them at going outside age (3-4 weeks weather dependent). They are just over 2 weeks old, I have someone wanting 8. Then, about 4 days ago, I had someone reply to a very old ad. I didn’t see it until last night because when I have active ads I just search my mail each morning for “craigslist” and answer any I get, but I haven’t put up an ad in months.

I replied to this guy today, he lives about 45 minutes away, but was working a job in my town, and had downtime, and was like can I pick them up in 12 minutes? I was shocked, stuffed some flip flops on my kids and headed to the meet up. $75 for 9 female chicks 2 weeks old! So much easier than raising to laying age, less than half the time spent raising them, and I got like 2/3 of the amount of $. I took down my sex link setup because I built a new pen, and I’m moving everyone’s pens under my deck. I wish I had set more before I did that. This won’t make me rich, but it will feed my project birds most of the summer haha.

This dummy is zipping completely the wrong part of the egg :th

Okay the babies are almost fully feathered (feather balls with fluff heads hehe). I’m guessing their colors are mixed...but wanted thoughts now that they’re a bit older :)

I love the coloring, I thought B was the pharaoh type but the color seems to be closer to blacks and grays mixed with brown...and A is a very uniform pattern that seems black and white with some lighter browns? So pretty!

I had a couple like that from shipped eggs, I think they hatched anyway. I’m not certain tho, I remember wondering if they were gonna do ok, but I didn’t mark them so I’m not sure.
I've had some like this before and they didn't have any problems hatching.
Don't you go and be jinxing me now.
