Picture of 171 chicks. I'll have a second big brooder ready tomorrow so I can split them up.

My dogs seem to have a healthy respect of what belongs to mommy, but I’m not about to start letting birds wander the house to test that haha. The dogs were as surprised as I was.She is a beautiful bird! Sounds like she needs to reassess the value of her adventurous spirit! I don't know about your dogs, but mine would make short work of a wandering quail in the house hahaha. It was nice of her to leave you a bunch of surprises too :-D
That’s funny! Doggy missed out on a treat haha.My dogs seem to have a healthy respect of what belongs to mommy, but I’m not about to start letting birds wander the house to test that haha. The dogs were as surprised as I was.
My first group of chicks I had a close call, my big dog was sitting next to me and I was holding a chick, the chick suddenly leapt off my lap and with a freak stroke of luck the dog yawned, and directly in went the chick. The dog was shocked, and spit it right out, and it was fine but slimy. My only other close call was just a few weeks ago, one of my young birds flew out of the grow out, and my female frenchie snatched her right from the air and held her down, other than some missing tail feathers, the bird was fine as well.
I’m guessing it’s probably a manchurian. That’s funny! Doggy missed out on a treat haha.
My Frenchie would definitely do damage if she had access to them—not sure she’d know what to do exactly but I’m sure it wouldn’t end well! She also tried attacking my Silkie when she escaped the chicken runBut my German Shepard mix has already been responsible for three quail deaths! My children were NOT happy with him!
On another note, I’ve not had a quail with such a distinctive single stripe! Usually always three even if faint. My daughter named her Chubby Pikachu![]()
Oh neat! I've never seen a manchurian except in pictures. She's very fluffy and adorable.I’m guessing it’s probably a manchurian.
My male frenchie is very docile to animals, the female is a bit of a hunter and chases rabbits and moles. The big dog wants to teach the local deer a lesson haha. I have my brooders on a coffee table, which the dogs could reach if they wanted, but they’ve never tried. They love to watch the quail show tho lol.
I have a 14 year old pug, she is very jolly and sweet. She mostly sleeps, and has no interest in the birds. I don’t think she would have cared about them in her youth either.Oh neat! I've never seen a manchurian except in pictures. She's very fluffy and adorable.![]()
My Frenchie is the sweetest dog, until she sees the birds! Then she acts all tough and obnoxious haha. She also tolerates the German Shepard puppy who really likes to play rough! We also have a puggle who is 17 and I am grateful she is too old to really see or hear anymore and likes to sleep, cuz she would DEFINITELY never stop trying to eat my birds!! That beagle in her is fierce and relentless!
