➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I think my hatch is mostly done. 171 have hatched so far, 1 albino runt passed on its own, another had to be culled, and I have 2 more albinos that probably won't make it.
169 chicks in this picture. Yes, I counted them (one by one as I moved them to the larger brooder).

The one on the right looks like roux and silver, I think it will be very pretty. The other might be a faker, it’s common with silver, they look like they’ll be all white, but as they get pins, you’ll see light silver or silver/roux emerge.
I just love the little one on the right, it's SO pretty. I wish I had gotten more like it! No doubt it will end up a male like my other two silver celadons. I am sure you are right that it will be a faker, it would be very surprising if it ends up being all white! I have a bunch that appear to have a silver dilute to them from Silvie my one silver male, so I am curious to see how they feather out! I also got in my shipped eggs a mix of their more unique quail from KC Quail. The mix may include Goldens, Pearl Fees, something they call a chocolate manchurian (sort of looks like a super dark Pansy Fee), and German Pastels. I have NO clue what the chocolate manchurians look like as babies so it will remain a surprise I guess! :) The NR was a good upgrade. Out of 23 viable eggs I got 19 to hatch! I took yours and others advice and took the turner out one day sooner than usual, I was super worried when I candled and the air sacs seemed to be in the wrong place. They mostly all zipped from the top or half way down, so I think the extra time to move around in the egg was warranted. So I am finally feeling like it isn't me, it was the incubator. So thank you everyone!

I have one from k dale that looks like their chocolate manchurians, it is actually one of the hens in the k dale group that provided these eggs. I’m not sure I have a chick pic, I’ll look though. It is a homozygous sparkly I believe.

I’m pretty sure it was the dark looking pharaoh one standing alone at 5 o clock of the water bowl.

Oh I wasn't expecting it to be striped as a baby for some reason! That is helpful! Thank you! Is the white one on the left a Pearl Fee? SO pretty! I love the dark colored ones up close, but the camera doesn't capture it as well as the other colors. I used to think the darker colors were boring until I got a couple of the Tibetans...they are super gorgeous in person! I'm excited to see if it looks like yours! :)

The white one is a pearl fee, and that k dale pearl fee is the prettiest pearl fee I’ve ever had! She’s so big too. When I woke up today, one of my dogs was barking in the bedroom, which is not normal. I told him off and he settled down, but then I ended up getting up anyway, and the pearl hen was walking around the floor in the family room next to our bedroom. I must not have latched the lid hard enough, and she got out and had an adventure, pooped on the floor about 20 times.

She is a beautiful bird! Sounds like she needs to reassess the value of her adventurous spirit! I don't know about your dogs, but mine would make short work of a wandering quail in the house hahaha. It was nice of her to leave you a bunch of surprises too :-D
