Do you have light on yours?
Yes. It stays on 24-7. They have a box that they can go in to get away from the light

I have a still air Little Giant. It works great for me.I'm green with envy right now. I'd love to be hatching out some quail right now.
I'm new to quail. Building my pen right now and hope to get some quail soon. What incubator do you all prefer? That's next on my purchase list. Or I may build one, haven't fully decided yet.

I recently asked this. The consensus was if you are handy, build one (my estimate is $50 versus $145 store bought using incubator warehouse parts). But free trumps everything, so I was gifted one. If you are rich, your choice. Kiki got one gifted after building hers. Weird how that works.
My preferences were narrowed to 1) forced air, 2) automatic thermostat, and 3) automatic egg turned. The cheap way is still air, adjust it manually and hand turned. I'm lazy. What can I say?
Quail planned for February.![]()
You must start with a thermostat. It's a must. Playing human thermostat sucks big time.I have more than a few left over computer fans that I could possibly use for air circulation. I’ll have to look at their models to see if they can be utilized for it. I planned on using them for air circulation in my bioactive reptile enclosures I’m starting to build, well planning.
I’m definitely wanting an auto egg turner. And eventually a thermostat, but I’ve had plenty experience adjusting temperatures and hand turning chicken eggs. Lol
