yes! a 75% hatch rate is 40 chicks! and if I stay out of it, could be more than that! going with my final brooder setup of heatpad + white lightbulb and fingers crossed for 90+% survival rate from hatch! nutridrench water for first 3 days, vitamin water for 1 week after that.Wow Muddy!!! BIG hatch!!!!![]()
They used to house mirrors. My neighbor was throwing them out one day and I grabbed them quick with doors in mind.
I’ve not seen information saying no, but I don’t think so. The bedding shouldn’t be deeper than they are big, and because they are so tiny, they are very close to the bedding.Wow Kiki, so creative! I love the picture frame doors! I’m just here spying on ya’ll. Interested in quail but not sure whether I should jump into them just yet. It’s been so cold & we don’t have an indoor space to build, so I’m way behind on my projects for this spring.
I have a quick question. I use deep bedding with my chickens. I started with a few inches (some folks start with the whole 12”) and have been adding to the top/stirring it up since then. I love it. No smell, no poopy feet (well, not usually anyway), no cleaning out the coop constantly, and you get nearly-done compost in the spring. Can one build in an extra however many inches to the quail house floor and use this method for quail?
Tonight is day 6 and I just candled my eggs and most of the chicken ones have happy little spiders swimming away. I couldn't tell for the quail, I think they need more time. But all 7 of 7 turkey eggs show development!!!! I'm so excited!!!
We have another pip!
(1 of 3 eggs in bator)
I am never going a staggered hatch again.. this is too much for my impatient little fingers![]()
