Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I have some sad news. Casper passed away this weekend while we were gone. I was worried when I left; he had a little dried blood around his nostrils I had hoped was from a peck but his beak and skin almost looked hypoxic, with a blue tinge. I am pretty sure it was what I expected, organ failure. I am pretty sad.
:hugs at least he had a great life with all your care and cuddles

My hands are normal, he's big but wasn't big enough to justify keeping.

Considering they're competing against your jumbos and mostly colors you already have I am fine with this :D

I will have to let you know if a super sized pearl-fee brother pops up. Both of them are on the smaller side so far.

I don't think he was as big of a fan of the cuddles as I was, but I didn't subject him to them all that often. :lau
Shhhh they all love cuddles
Tomorrow I'm going to start leveling the aviary site if the ground is dried up a bit. I might actually get to start all the seeds I haven't been able to do yet

8-9 out now. It begins...

Yaay! I'm excited to see what you're working with, site-wise. Hope the weather's on your side :fl.

Can you take a picture of your flashlight?
I want to see what you have on the end of it.
I want it.

if you want to test the security of your aviary, just release some 2 week olds!!! we’ve been wrangling more babies and fixing small holes all day!!! :barnie I may have lost a couple to my dogs, but headcount looks good overall!!

I candled eggs under broodies today. 2 due this weekend, 2 tossed, and 9 due June 8th with incubator babies. going to start candling incubators between now and Friday.

i’m pretty wiped out tonight.....reworked and watered the plants, set up a covered feeding station, collected eggs (23 quail and 5 chicken) and fixed gaps along with backfilling with dirt.
