➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Unless you handle them everyday, multiple times a day...they will become 'hand shy', some may never really tame down anyway, no matter what you do!
My Golden pheasants were extremely tame because I handled them everyday all day long as chicks. Their offspring in turn were as tame as a baby puppy. And in turn, their offspring are tame as well.... weird how that works.
I have some Bob's that are the same way....you can handle them, pick them up and they aren't scared or try to flush at all.
It all depends on how much attention/ handling they are given when growing. At least that has been my experiences.

@le_bwah

#1 is a tibetan tuxedo

#2/3 are pearl-fee

#4/6 are rosetta (one tuxedo). Great pattern on that first one, I had a bunch like that pop out last hatch and they sold lickity-split.

#5 is a "tan" silver (I don't have a better name for them yet and I'm not sure anyone else does - they seem to pop up from my regular silvers sometimes :confused: But also look a lot like my silver pharoahs. I'm running quite a few experimental crosses to figure them out next hatch)

so proud of my silkie mommas!! in total they had 11 eggs (2 last week and 9 this week). They hatched 9 of the 11. I lost 2 partially hatched and 1 died before hubby could get it out today. For being young and size difference etc, they have a much better overall hatch rate than my incubator!!

Hey muddy, you get anymore pics of your mel's? Would love to see what ya got!
working on it....i was at my moms today and while i was gone we got 4-6 inches of rain!!! everything is completely flooded again so it was all i could do to collect eggs and feed this afternoon. I have had 4/10 die so far :hit2 in first 24 hours and 1 yesterday and 1 today. the remaining 6 looked ok this afternoon. hoping to get pics tomorrow.
I brought home my first bunnies today!! My sister wants my remaining layers so I traded for 2 live and 2 processed bunnies so far! because of the rain, I have them in temp dog crate in my sons room. I got a male and female so I have to separate them until doe is 6 mos (late october)
