➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Thornflower_gal - have you candled? It has been over 10 days for your eggs. Time to candle and report! We like good news, but will listen to bad.

Lockdown is right around the corner...

I candled last night, which was day 9. Out of 61 eggs I have 45 healthy embryos, and one in question (which I left in the bator). None of the 15 that I tossed had dead babies, they just looked like they never started developing (completely clear). I think that's about 75%. The one in question looks like it may have died early yesterday. Over halfway done!

View attachment 1806028 My babies so far!! The middle one is extremely light.....still watching eyes to see if albino???....
looks like normal eyes....just light color! 6 in brooder 5 in bator.....will check for more under broody in am!!

just came in from morning feeding! all is well overall. I removed 1 partially hatched egg dis from broody coop. my best recollection is 9 eggs due 1-2 more still look like trying to hatch. woke up to total 10 in bator. one of my 4 week olds managed to tangle up in netting....had a foot stuck and it’s head!! was still limping a bit but hopefully will be back to normal by this afternoon.

Chicks are a little under a week and a half old. They've become hand-shy almost overnight, and I'm hoping I can win them over with meal worms. So many beautiful colors—it's going to be a hard cull.

This is the most I can get in one close-up anymore.

Their "hamster-cage" brooder—works super well!

This is one of my own hen's chicks. I've decided I'll keep them if they're male—they'e just so chill and friendly, I'd like to pass that trait on if at all possible.

No clue what color this is. Very loud, easily-frightened bird.

Another black and white one, a bit different though.

Never seen one like this before—I love their little feather tips!

I've got two gray ones, a dark and a light. This is the dark one.

One of my favorites—biggest bird of the hatch. Hoping they're a hen :fl.
