➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I'd say anything is possible but I'd also day it's highly unlikely.

What makes you think sour crop?
one of my oldest, strongest, and loudest babies kept crying last night and when hubby got him out,his crop was completely full and hubby kept complaining of his stinky breath! everything seems fine this morning and with babies, I can’t really take the food away to see if it empties

Sour crop is an infection.
This is a good link.

My guess would be that maybe it ate something it shouldn't have or just ate too much.
Especially if the crop emptied over night.

thanks! that is a good article.....yes my initial fear was that this one was in the group that were in the other brooder for a bit and maybe ate some shavings or something, but now i think it was just a case of overeating and it had a “tummy ache” so to speak. I left the little water cup in for now but added the bigger one because they are starting to empty the little one so quickly

I'm moving the triplets out right now.

Super quail (runt quail) has gone to heaven overnight :hit not sure what I could have done to save it, a bit bummed though. Edit -super quail number 2 has also gone to heaven:hit

I'm curious to see the difference when my own quailies are old enough to breed, rather than bought/shipped eggs. As in, if the chicks are healthier, higher hatch rates, etc etc.

:hugs
so sorry for your loss.....i just lost my runt baby too:hit

my little “froggie” seems to be getting stronger! can walk with hips straight now on the grippy surface......toes still curled so maybe try the tape booties tomorrow and see how he does. but at least he’s active and eating and drinking! of course I’m already thinking of my next hatch......trying to decide time frame and whether to go tuxedo assortment or sex link. will definitely use what I’ve learned from last couple hatches moving forward!!
