Geez Kiki.. hurry up!!

I have accidentally created a monster.. or 12monsters.. maybe handling them, and talking to them and hand feeding crickets was not my smartest idea.. now they keep chirping for more and trying to jump out of quail land whoops!!!!

Oh, Kiki... bought a 600 lumen flashlight on sale for $10 at the feed store. Candled and pulled 12 eggs out that appear not developed at all. Nice yellow yolks with the green glow. The focused LED beam with an improvised egg focuser thing worked. Will open tomorrow and the chickens will get a quail omelet.

@BReeder! thank you for your pictures. The pipe insulation I have is too narrow for the new flashlight. I owe you pictures. How are the popcorns doing?

This leaves 10 that will go into lock down tomorrow. Air cells all uniform. Black with nothing else discernable. So exciting!

Got the roof on the coop. Doors are next. Brooder set up soon.

So you know what this means?!? Popcorn next week.

Congrats! It's so exciting to candle and know that all your effort is working. Hatch day is really something. I cannot wait to do it again. We just put 4 turkey eggs in today. Seeing what happens - these are a bit of an experiment and we are not sure they are fertile. Hoping for 2 turkeys though to grow for the holidays. If these eggs don't work out, we will put in more eggs come spring weather when other local BYC members have some turkey eggs to spare.
As for my little popcorns, they are doing well. There have been some stragglers with leg issues, but over all they are doing well. 51 at this point. They are eating and drinking well. Its like raising chickens, but in miniature.

I've been getting monster size quail eggs. Normally they are around 13 grams. These ones are 16-18 grams. I don't know if they are double yolks, but the incubator is calling... I think I'm going to risk it.

Turkey eggs are nice and easy to see inside

One of my little qualies has a crooked neck all of a sudden (had to be the all yellow one darn it!). I have no idea why? (See if my pics work)
And 2 of my brown ones have the worst eye sight ever.. they literally peck 1cm from where they are aiming

Maybe I need some better genes in my stock.. might have to buy more eggs before I start hatching my own
