I think 10 is my happy number!! I feel like they have enough "space" in their various little quail digs, and I can tell them all apart!!

What day do y'all candle your eggs? I haven't bothered the last few hatches, because I am lazy.

I candled on day 5 or 7 (cannot remember which) and then on day 15 before lockdown.
As for the 100, many of them will be growing out for the freezer. Also, I want to be able to sell eggs so I'll have a lot of layers.

I don’t candle a 100% usually. Most of the time with quail eggs I just go straight to hatch only handling them when removing from the trays at lockdown. Hatch too many birds to spend time candling.

Are we all using leg bands? I dunno what size to buy? Maybe finch equivalent would do!

Hatchabatch (which is finally up and running again ) says to candle on day nine. I suppose because they are difficult to see in, and by then you can detect a big enough change.

Define derailed. I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I candled at lock down and pulled the clears, so day 15 and then again at day 30. Much easier to candle once the shells are emptied. I highly recommend it.

How are the baby bunnies? In a few days they will start looking like rabbits.

Bunnies are still good. Picture from last night. Still look like hairless rats. They sure are wiggly.

No leg bands. Separate by cages. One boy, buncha girls. It is all good.

I wanna watch someone paint toenails on a quail. For some reason, I find this immensely funny. Imagine a little bow on the quails neck. Kinda like they do with ducklings at Easter.

Hatching humans is a tricky business. BTW, the females get really protective.
