Banty how many quail would you brood in a normal sized tote? Or something of similar size? I’ve hatched ducks but not quail before. And I’m currently incubating 225.![]()
Mine were before. Mine also has the cups underneath the nipples so I keep the cups full for a couple days. That runs out and they will peck at the nipples and figure out.Are quail smart enough to figure out nipples?

I have a large pool that I plan on brooding them in and making adjustments if I need to add more. But it’s hard to figure out what’s the right size for that many. I hatched out 40 out of 50 last week! They seem more mean to each other than ducks as well. You are going to need like 3-10 of those to make it to three weeks depending on your hatch rateThey are tiny at hatch but they grow SO FAST.
I'd say ten will fit in a tote for a few days.Banty how many quail would you brood in a normal sized tote? Or something of similar size? I’ve hatched ducks but not quail before. And I’m currently incubating 225.![]()
Thanks Kiki. We have a couple weeks to prepare so we should be fine. And I’m incubating them for food and our dog training so the hubs is willing to help me out since he’s getting something out of it.I'd say ten will fit in a tote for a few days.

What size of brooder do you have for 7 and how long do you brood them for? They seem ALOT more fragile than ducks.![]()
You crazy. I don't know, I've never hatched more than 7 at a time. They grow fast though.
I'm in the same boat but I don't train dogs. Thanks Kiki. We have a couple weeks to prepare so we should be fine. And I’m incubating them for food and our dog training so the hubs is willing to help me out since he’s getting something out of it.
Here flight ready birds sell for $5 each and the hubs bought lots of them for training our dogs last year. It didn’t make sense to keep buying them when I can raise them.
