➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

It is a black tuxedo!! Just like the bad leg ones :barnie:barnie

:he:he shipped eggs from random sources :he:he this is killing me!!

Stupidly I mixed up my own 2 eggs with the others, so I dont know if they hatched or not :barnie am going to set a couple of my own this week.

I am so sorry. I have also had terrible experiences with shipped eggs before, I really sympathize :( it's so frustrating when it feels like your only source for stock comes with a giant question mark every time.

Shipped eggs on the left, homebred on the right. I'm still fiddling with their lamp to get it perfect. It's kind of a tiny space now that it's divided into two, but they go into the bigger one as soon as they've all popped out and dried off :jumpy This is just to keep them convenient in my bathroom next to the incubators.
I see yellow and my favorite stretched out leg!:love

When their first feathers start coming in, do they all look the same? And do they eventually molt into the different colors?
Well the wild type cots all look the same at first then they molt and change.

If you mean that females and males get different patterns, then the 2-3 week molt is when that happens.

You can usually tell fancy colors from birth, if not exactly what they are. My lighting is poor but I plan to post better comparison pics when they're all born for future chick ID purposes! You can see a distinct difference. Also, things like dark feet can be present from birth to indicate other colors.

Hi everyone,
Just sexed my coturnix and here are some pictures of three girls. What colour males would be best to mate them up to for nice colour chicks?
