➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Was the Blue and white one from Amazon LOL Husband bought it
yes you could keep quail in there. In my experience they won’t use the coop part in the same way as chickens do, (i attempted to put all 7 of mine in a coop every night for the first few weeks outside) but some of mine do climb the ramp in my 2 level grow out hutch. mine have done well outside through the winter here but I did bring the adults in during the “arctic blast” and kept a coop heater in the grow out hutch for a couple of weeks. as far as # of quail in that space....best answered by kiki or 007 etc. all my birds have done well but i’ve heard some horrible stories of aggression by both male and female quail.

I was planning to hay bale and tarp the outside as I do for the bantam chickens with wood shavings on the ground.

Quail are just downright funny. Three jumped up on the side of the jar I was using to fill the water. They just sat there the whole time! Okay, so it was quick. It was still funny.
I think the bands will stay on their ankles, but I can’t get the darn things on by myself.
Here are two that I want to band.

Final count on the last batch is 21/24 for me :D #22 did kind of sort of started to hatch but never quite got all systems online.

I have a few weird feet in the mix I'm still working on, and two from the shipped batch with kind of weird feathers, but it's still my best hatch so far.

Between the two batches and 36 chicks I have two pearls, not one, four falb fee, half a dozen red shades, half a dozen Italians, a dozen different blue/silver/lavender/charcoals, and ONE pharoah.

We are all packed into the car again to ride home!

Everyone's chickies look so good :love

Adorable! Yes, bands will stay on at that age.

Oh sorry, I referenced having to go on a long car trip with them a few days ago, we are just headed the other direction now :D it's been quite a thing juggling a heat lamp off the car inverter and keeping my bird dog apart from them in the backseat.

2/20/19 - 21 hatched
