Ok found this on you-tube! Just turn the sound up about 6 or 8 more levels and you'll get a picture of what it's like to hear that at 3:00am and being woke up by it! I was just playing this back, and mine started doing it!

In my previous recent hatch, shipped eggs but 2 of my own, that I accidently mixed up.. I had one little yella tiny one, that drowned itself in the waterer me thinks, that may have possibly been our egg/baby - there was no other yella ones in that hatch

Sorry for the loss....I hate it when you have 'drown proof' waterers and they still manage to drown themselves!

Quail waterers worked great for me. They use the quart sized jars and have a small base so they can't drown.

I've had them drown with the so called 'drown proof' waterers, the 1/4" lip and 1/4" deep ones, the small base ones.

Wow, I guess I got lucky then! Ours spilled of course, and got a little damp here and there but no drowning.

For some reason they like to fall asleep on them, then drown....quail chicks aren't very smart.

I have definitely been woken up by mine... they make such a shrill noise. I am still waiting to put them out in the shed. Winter temps have hung around a bit later than expected
