Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I’m excited! I’m getting a glass door mini fridge this weekend to make my own incubator! Hopefully with the help of another BYCer with more engineering skill than me, I can make a nice cabinet incubator.

The Hubs is pretty savvy but he’s going to be on active duty for the Navy the rest of March so I have to nag someone else.:gig
I want to follow this build! :celebrate

My quail love dirt baths.
They are professionals at throwing the dirt out of the container.
I have a covered cardboard box type thing with a smaller door type hole...it works good for keeping the dirt in the box but they still manage to throw some out of it.
Mine don't mind getting in and out of the covered box.

I will be building one also maybe this weekend. A cabinet style incubator and a hatcher
Did anymore hatch?
Did you calibrate a thermometer or two?

Alright quail hatch is done set 30. 14 fertile and 8 hatched. 1 did have a crooked neck it will be culled.
Ugh...I don't like these numbers.
I'm sorry it wasn't too good.

Mine wont go "in/under" anything.

Mine loved their hidey holes! I had a small dog travel kennel that I split the top from the bottom and but both pieces down like caves and had a 25 gallon plant pot from a tree we planted and cut the pot in half and tossed it on the ground like caves. I would go out to the pen, lift up the cave, grab the eggs and put the caves back. They loved them.
