Last hatch of mine I was away from home.Seemed like a such a good idea at the timenow I feel like poking chopsticks in my eyes!!
Or Aji peppers!Dipped in wasabi chopsticks?
I do not think that is high.75% hatch sounds so high (because I've not had numbers that high *yet*) - is it high?
Maybe on shipped eggs? But on own eggs -its possible right?
If/when my number 7 chick jumps out, that gives me 70% hatch on my own eggs. Which is very exciting for me!
Yes.Wow Kiki, so creative! I love the picture frame doors! I’m just here spying on ya’ll. Interested in quail but not sure whether I should jump into them just yet. It’s been so cold & we don’t have an indoor space to build, so I’m way behind on my projects for this spring.
I have a quick question. I use deep bedding with my chickens. I started with a few inches (some folks start with the whole 12”) and have been adding to the top/stirring it up since then. I love it. No smell, no poopy feet (well, not usually anyway), no cleaning out the coop constantly, and you get nearly-done compost in the spring. Can one build in an extra however many inches to the quail house floor and use this method for quail?
I say no to fish tanks and hamster cages.I’ve not seen information saying no, but I don’t think so. The bedding shouldn’t be deeper than they are big, and because they are so tiny, they are very close to the bedding.
Quail are very small critters, and can stay in a hamster cage or fish tank. You should definitely start on your quail. Just think, eggs in six weeks!
@Texas Kiki I was just sitting here wondering when your next hatch would be and Horse Triplets thread popped up!!I think I’ve made it to pg3!!
I was thinking 4-6 for them to start.I say no to fish tanks and hamster cages.
Unless it's just a couple quail.
For the first week or so.I was thinking 4-6 for them to start.
