Spam me with your best ideas to raise the humidity in my incubator...today is day 14 and I removed the turner and added two soaked washcloths, two plastic dishes with warm water, and filled all of the trays with warm water...that was a few hours ago and I cannot get it above 65% (on a calibrated hygrometer...incubator hygrometer is reading even lower).

65 is plenty high enough.
50% is plenty high enough for me.
Humidity doesn't really need to be raised until you see the first external pip.

I would not add anything else if I were you.

Thanks! Most everything I’ve read has said to raise humidity to 65-70% at lockdown so wanted to be sure I was on the right path.

i try to stay in 60-65 range. I cut up sponge pieces in a glass bowl and set in the corner at lockdown. then add water as needed through hole in the side. the babies like to climb on it after hatch! freaked me out a little at first!

best ideas to raise the humidity in my incubator...
Raise the ambient humidity in the room with a humidifier?

I have one of those ultrasonic humidifiers for when the kids are sick, and the crazy thing is so effective that if the kids mess with the knobs it fills the room with a cloud! (One time it got so steamy in somebody’s bedroom that it set off the smoke alarm

This is the best solution I have found for those of us in dryer climates, it swings way too much otherwise no matter what I do :thumbsup

We do have an area humidifier. Sometimes it seems like we ought to have two of them. We noticed this dryness when two of DH’s guitars got cracks in them. :hit

It keeps the house at about 35%. Best it can do. Better than nothing and I need to go fill it now that you’ve reminded me!

Listen here Kiki :old

50% on shipped eggs is a miracle if you ask me!

On own eggs.. I sort of wish it would be 90%, but I feel like that's me being greedy.

Number 7 is out, that's 70% hatch :celebrate I'll be strutting around FIGJAM if any more hatch :wee

My experiences also align with your goals for shipped vs. homebred. @Texas Kiki is just a talented hatcher!

Yes. When we are incubating we just stick our whole house humidifier in the bathroom with the incubator and deal with the nosebleeds :lau The things I do for quail.

I am setting eggs again asap  Chicks be gettin' reserved like hotcakes.
