➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Let's see if I can get @WVduckchick or @Miss Lydia to answer your question?
I love my duck people! Thanks for helping out.:hugs

I’ve asked them all at one point with no luck to my obscure question. First world problems!!

I don’t know either. @Pyxis would be the one I would ask.
I do love my Malibu’s dark bill.

Yes I was actually picturing your lovely Malibu as I was typing. Full size versions though. I’m not talented enough to try call hatching.

You should, I absolutely :love (loved) my Calls. I haven't had any in a few years now! They would see me come out to the other pens and come flying up to me from the lake, looking for a hand out.

Patient is laying on side, won’t stand. Will fly around if I bug her, and is a good weight. I didn’t think to check her crop. I’ll do that in a minute.
Is that a worm?

Doesn't look like Cocci but it could be Ulcerative enteritis, except the feces is normally really runny...and they hunch up, fluffed up, and have their eyes closed. They only exhibit laying on their side when about to die, when UE is the culprit.

I am sorry! I have little advice, I don't have first hand experience with much in the way of illness yet. I hope she pulls through for you :fl. I'd keep her far, far, FAR away from everyone else in the meantime.

I have not been on in a few days. I'm out of down for work and away from home. DW is taking care of the birds and DS. We have turkey eggs (again :fl) in the incubator right now and will be adding some chicken eggs with them soon. We just put the turkey eggs in on Monday when I was leaving. I got all the eggs for free from a fellow BYC member. :hugs
As for my quail though... they STILL are not laying eggs! :rant I really wish that the days would get longer already. When I am home this weekend they are finally going into the shed. I instill some more lights so we can provide supplemental lighting like we do for the chickens. I really want to start hatching more quail soon.
