Hmmmm well isn't the point of a grazing box to limit what they have access to? Like they only eat what can grow up to where they can reach. So would it still be too much?

I would think them foraging and grazing themselves would be okay? I think treats would be more like kitchen scraps, scratch, tons of mealworms, corn, etc. but idk. Maybe grazing boxes still count as treats. Idk. But I would think with the really high protein feed it might be okay? I know tons of treats waters down the nutrition in chickens too so I have mine on an 18% layer instead of 16% so when they free range and get scraps it is still a good level instead of being too low protein. So maybe you could do a similar thing with the quail? Feed a higher protein than recommended so they still have a good amount of protein? Although quail are way smaller than chickens and already eat a lot less as it is so maybe the grazing is worse for them. Idk.

I could always rotate the boxes so there's only 1 producing at a time?

Quail waste more feed than any bird I know. I have noticed that the higher the protein, to a point, the less amount of feed is eaten.
If a complete and balanced feed is fed, there's really no need to give 'extras'...treats, other than 'greens', I feel giving greens balances out their nutritional needs, that they don't get from a commercial feed.

@BReeder! It sounds like a nice big space for them to roam around, maybe not so easy for you to closely examine. Do you have a bunch of furniture in there? I don’t know whether quail eat eggs like some chickens do, but I’ve heard they do sometimes hide them.

There are absolutely no eggs or shells. They just are not laying.

How much light are they getting? Are the males crowing? When I am growing out a batch, the males start crowing a week or two before the hens start laying.

sitting at an airport at the moment... I tried going to the feedstore's website, but they are a small family owned store and it doesn't look like they've added everything they carry to their site. None of the gamebird feeds are listed on there.

Just gave me a celadon in an eggshell history lesson and told me they're gearing up to release a new celadon line in spring that breeds 100% true celadon laying hens(I think), WHO WILL HAVE sexable plumage, to release next spring...
He talks fast so i might've misunderstood about the 100% true part
