➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Can you take a picture of your flashlight?
I want to see what you have on the end of it.
I want it.

This is what I've been using since about Day 10.

My dad's Nitecore TIP. Much brighter than my phone's light, rechargeable, has a "super-bright" mode. GREAT for candling.

She was a beast @mixedUPturk  You know what specific line? JMF Jumbo or meat maker?

@Sara L can I or you post pics of the two extra pretty ones?

My boys are always jumpy earlier, I imagine a whole batch of only them would have been extra agitated :/

That's the pair that's thrown 12/12 boys! Trying the male with a different hen and we'll see what happens.

Also, um, guys.... I came back with two rabbits.

Meat makers. The hen i still have left is 14 ozs. Do u kno the one survivor is the gal w the white wing tips? :love

My albino also passed today, im glad i didnt put near as much work into him as u had yours. I had seperated him w a pair of his more mild siblings but he was too weak. No hugs neccesary tho, no worries, thats my only loss so im doin pretty good.

Theres one w a wonky foot. I tried to splint it but it seemed to hurt him so i quit. Prolly jus another automatic freezer camp at 6-8 wks like that splay i mentioned earlier.

You don't have a rubber type seal around the edge of the light?

I saw in one of your videos it is the perfect size for a quail egg.

I want one!

Oh! That thing is just a ring of polymer clay—you could smoosh it to be any size you needed. I only used it for the first few days and some in the middle of the hatch. Stopped using it when it discolored one of the eggshells. Turns out it can also pick up the tiny pigmented granules on the shell surface.

Might use play-dough for any future hatches—now that I think about it, I never checked to see if the clay was safe. Worked great though! :D
