Fill the feeder at night.

With my quail, I do all of the refilling of feed, water and gathering of eggs at night as they don't seem as spooked when I do the work while they're snoozing.

Expecting to lock down this batch of 14 coturnix quail eggs in 3 days. Just started raising quail this year, bought 10, then bought another 20... of the 30 purchased I have six hens. I'm seriously wondering if they KNOW they're selling off the boys, as I ask specifically for hens, and still end up with almost all males. The first hatch (5) I gifted to my neighbor as day-olds, they've grown into 3 pharaoh hens & 2 ranger colored birds that are still too young to sex. My second hatch (11) were born May 20th, too young to sex. My third hatch (14 eggs) is what's in the incubator now.
Pray for hens, as my freezer is getting full of quail meat!

I just candled a random quail egg and used my phone flashlight instead of my real flashlight.

I got a really wonky air cell.
I'm trying to get pictures but a video might show it better.

I'm doing this in a not so dark room so it's not as good as it might be tonight.
I'm thinking I might try to wrap the Play-Doh with plastt wrap stuff.

That ones not that bad id be surprised if more than half of them didnt look like that.

Saran wraping the play doh is a great idea! The reason i havent used play doh is having all new containers its like guaranteed to stick.

This was a brand new container of doh...let me dig for an older more dried out container.

I even thought about like halfway drying out a ring of it but my phones light works well enough for my chickens eggs im not doin quail Constantly Yet

Cut a hole in a mouse pad. They don't stick to the eggs. I'll have to get a picture later. Mine is taped to a cardboard flashlight adapter. Real hi tech stuff.
