➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

How's it going?
Any more poppers?

Not yet, but at least 2 pips and several are rocking and chirping. When should this little guy eat and drink? He's getting better at walking but still not fully dry. He shows some interest in food, but doesn't know what to do. He's cheeping CONSTANTLY!
-Also, he's doing a motion like what my roosters do when they crow, and making a weird chirp, different than his other cheeps. What does that mean?

Can you take a short video and upload it to YouTube?

I noticed that my latest dummies didn't really eat until about 24 hours after hatch.

Have you smashed up the feed real good?

How are you heating it? Do you have a thermometer in there with him?

that sounds to me like a “locator” cheep....trying to find the others!! I know @Texas Kiki believes in getting them out as soon as possible, but I have started removal once every 24 hours around active hatching (a more hands off approach) that seems to be working well. (of course with the eggs under broodies, I pull them freshly hatched so they don’t “murder” themselves)

I can try to put a video on here, but I don't know know about YouTube. He doesn't do it a lot. I have the feed crumbled up good. I have a heat lamp, but no thermometer. I just go by feel, I've had lots of babies before (chickens and ducks.) I think he is lonely.
Get a thermometer tomorrow, please.

You can't upload straight to here yet. :(
