i was ready to open the incubator to check again and 2 just hatched simultaneously!!! one pearl and 1 “dark” will see when it dries!! for a few more!! hubby released my solo baby from rabbit cage last night and she was dead this morning not sure if quail killed her and then she was “cannibalized” or if other birds killed and ate her but she is headless in middle of aviary so it had to be the birds!! more flash flooding today so hubby put our deck umbrella in aviary on only “high ground” left....hopefully water recedes quickly or I may have to build each bird a kayak!!!

i got my first doulble yolker quail egg yesterday! the shell got cracked so I opened it!! 1 of 2 yolks was fertile!! i just had it as a sushi shot!!

“benjamin button” is smart!! he’s still small enough to fit through the wire on the rabbit cage (that we didn’t cover with hw/c) so during the downpours today he was in there for shelter!

i meant to weigh it for @Texas Kiki because when hubby saw it he said he felt sorry for the hen that laid that one!! I didn’t think double yolkers happened like that in quail and I was considering putting it in the incubator until i saw that it was cracked!
