@muddy75 im sorry about your brooder, thats one of the reasons i really prefer to brood small numbers more often. I have way fewer brooder problems/losses this way. With two bators i stagger thru the first into the second usually getting 3-6 chicks per wk.

I bought some but ran out and have been stealing the kids’ sandbox sand.

The quail seem to like at least some dirt in it though so it is a little “fluffier”. I was trying to decide if I was being too yuppie by buying dirt.

I buy dirt and don't see one problem with it.
I usually dump my dirt boxes back into my yard...into holes the dogs dug or the ruts the kids make with the four wheeler.
