➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Yeah this is lame. JMF is going to send a new box too, which is lovely of Robbie to do in the middle of juggling all the issues caused by the storm. We will all get celadon yet!!!

I'm super super proud of my homegrown eggs :love I think it is probably time to retire a bunch of breeders and hone in on a few strains. I am going to turn my 4x4 berry bin into a bigger cage for ~10 I'd like to keep just as layers. My best trio is producing the biggest eggs that have passed through my birdroom, with the biggest chicks and body size creeping up on jumbos too. And they are charcoal/sandy/pearl-fee! I am becoming addicted to constant improvement as opposed to constant collecting, which is probably a good thing.
I’ve got a falb fee tux!!!! I’ve been dying to show it to you but it’s name is “plucky” as it’s survived more than one back plucking.....it’s “twin” was unfortunately cannabilized by the other birds.....without any warning signs that I could prevent. Also have a pearl/pansy that I’m excited for you to see! We’ve been downsizing extra males like crazy and trying to remove any “triggers” for the birds to “kill and cannabilize” age has been a big factor for me as well.......I do have an “accidental” Grau fee male now that’s actively breeding my females!!!! Soooo exciting!

Interesting. Why would that make a difference?
Part of the reason CD is so fast is trauma to the brain stem and the back of the brain. It disrupts the actual function, and of course, snaps the spinal cord if properly done. If it's just a neck break, it still works, but may take a few seconds longer. Think decapitation vs getting your head smashed in by a falling object or something.
