➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Quail people: I'm converting my chicken run to a quail run. Will they go back to their pen at night or am I going to have to chase the little buggers in nightly?
Nope. They won't roost where you want them to. They will sleep where they want.

You will have to nightly chase. Put them in the greenhouse.

Don't have one, I start my plants in the basement. Besides, I already have to chase the ducks in nightly, so what's one more group of stubborn birds?

The reason I was curious is that despite their repute as not going back home, all of my quail that have escaped have been spotted a few days later sitting by their former pen.

Something more comes out of the basement...

If you put feeders out, they wouldn't need back in. Once addicted to the dole, it's hard to find your own food.

Actually, I already had feeders out for the other birds, as well as water dishes, yet they still hung around their pen when escaped. Perhaps they simply liked their friends more than their cannibalistic habits make it appear, lol.

Did I tell you about the time my cots escaped in winter? A few days after the rest had been found, the last one turned up, sitting right by my porch. I was rather amused.
