What do you do with buttons? They seem useless to me... Hoping I am wrong somehow.

i hatched some for fun earlier this year (mainly because I had someone interested in buying the chicks from me. Long story short I ended up with 1 lone male who will have to be brought inside when temps drop and I don’t want him to be lonely the rest of his life!! he’s survived multiple escape attempts, getting hung in aviary netting and injuring his leg, being raised with cots, pheasants, chiskens, and partridge, and my hawk invasion yesterday!!! the least I can do is try to hatch him a mate!!!

Only becuz i didnt say anything til i was waitin this morning its been drug out for months for me. The tests are immediate results though. You can pay to have AI testing done and sent off but i didnt because i know they dont have that.

Just remember there are states that require AI testing. I believe that Virginia is one of those states. Your state NPIP head should be able to assist you with the individual state requirements.

Most people just keep them as pets I think.

I believe they are just pets.

Yeah they are. A lot of people keep them inside in fish tanks/aquariums too lol

Sew them onto your clothes.

Put them in your pocket to take to the grocery store.
On a leash.

Thankfully I don’t think anyone actually does that lol don’t worry.

Although I have seen people take rats in their pockets or bags lol

And parrots, snakes, etc.

I just went to grab one egg that I've been taking daily pictures of and I see this. Day 5-6 quitter.. #18

The second one I grabbed is ok but now I'm scared to even look at the rest.

Remind me please, is green glow when initially candling bad when setting eggs? I think I avoided green glowing ones last time, but it was months ago now and the only time I hatched quail.

No not necessarily...but if they're glowing green by day 5 then they're clears.

Here are 8 clears and 3 early quitters.

Give me a few minutes to charge my flashlight and I'll take pictures of the clears versus the quitters.

Unfortunately, the prettiest birds of this hatch wound up male, including the lone pansy. Upside is that the new girls (all 10 of them) get along great with existing hens and almost all of them are laying. I'm filling about two of these bowls a week—need to find more ways to use eggs up.

Also getting a single, noticeably blue-ish egg a day. I've yet to identify the hen laying it. Is this one of the "Celadon" eggs I've been hearing about?
